The Restaurant Manifesto

Don’t ask your server his name upon first meeting. Like prostitutes or strippers — do you really need to know our real names? We will always assume you’re only asking so that you can boss us around more personally. If you feel a connection with your server as the evening progresses, then discreetly ask for an introduction.

Avoid automatically dismissing your waiter’s recommendations based on what you have recently eaten. Your server doesn’t care that you already had foie gras for lunch so keep it to yourself.  Just listen patiently and order something else.
